Barb Bruner, admissions: winter apps on track; autumn quarter is too early to tell; increased attendance at Buckeye Visit Days, etc. Reminder: Retention Retreat this Friday; OCAN and OASFAA conferences are combined this year, Dec. 13-15; several people from campus will be attending from both sides of the house.

Kyle Morgan, advising: Admissions & advising are not the same; Annie Schuster is newest advisor; conversion to semesters – beginning in March – Transitional Advising Plan (TAP), working with students on their credits. Enhanced university note system – all advisors can access. Tell students to talk to their advisors with questions about semesters.

Facilities/Safety & Security: Dan Longstreth, facilities: It is winter time! Will do best to keep things clear; there will be icy spots, so be careful.

Mike Neff, safety & security: been a quiet quarter; SWAT team is training here next Friday 12/17/10 – don’t be alarmed! Don’t leave things in your cars – we’ve had a few break-ins.

Human Resources: Sherry Abbott: Personnel updates – see web for list.

ITS: Howard Imhof: We’ve been impacted since yesterday – Times Warner had an outage, effected us in many places/ways; OSU side has a tremendous impact; there are extra work stations in the Tel-Center if you need access to email, etc. Kicking off new remote desktop capability – can access from home- alternative to VPN, much better; getting to roll out emergency broadcast system – similar to Buckeye Alert System – MUST OPT-IN.

Corri Edwards: E-reader playground workshop on Friday 12/10/10.

Library: Tauni Graham: Scott Bates has left (see updates, below); COTC students will no longer use SSN for library functions – by around middle of quarter they’ll have to use their student ID number preceded by “CT.”

Marketing & Public Relations: Alice Hutzel-Bateson: Winter commencement for COTC – please let guests take seats in the Alford Performing Arts Hall; Cost-shared holiday party – should have received “save the date” – Friday, December 17, 3-5 pm, Reese Center.

Services Center: Sue Bidwell: remodeling is being done, may effect some jobs, be sure to allow plenty of turn-around time; postage stays the same.

Staff Development: Tauni Graham: Door decorating is going on now; judging starts Friday 12/10 at 11 am in the services center; Our judges from last year are returning – retirees Bob Klingensmith, Cindy Downer, Lee and Mary Ellen St. John, Joe Tebben, and Jane Williams; potluck 12/16 in Reese center from 11:30 – 1pm, winners of door contest and employee of the quarter will be announced; potluck sign-up sheet is in the services center.

Marilyn Lees: scavenger hunt/game day - January 13-20 = H64, pizza; collecting peanut butter for the Food Bank again, so bring peanut butter.

Student Life: Connie Zang: There was a bake sale on Wednesday to raise money for funeral expenses for the family of Josiah Steward, the OSU student who died on Ohio 16; you can still make donations – contact Vorley Taylor for info: ext. 69443.

o   Still searching for his replacement
o   Goal target 4541 for winter – 6% increase over last winter; as of this morning, at 2929 (66% of where they need to be); newly renovated gateway in Newark; please drop in – area that used to be bookstore in Hopewell hall; complete around end of February. New technology for spring quarter: culinary science.

o   Kim Barton, COTC development officer, full time until December 31, 2012; helping with next generation challenge
o   Monday November 29 – “Human 40” in the Warner Center – for the final scene in viral video (40th anniversary) – 3:30 pm (near the fireplace)

·         Facilities: Norm – nothing; Dan Longstreth – potholes have been filled around campus; let him know of any missed potholes; finishing up mowing etc. – done in next week or so.  ROSE: why do speed bumps disappear? Dan: plowing for the winter.

o   “Parable of the Coyote” – Dave Wyrick, John Glenn School; Wednesday, December, 9 – 11:30 am, Warner Center platform; RSVP to Patsy Henderson;
o   Complete the sexual harassment training by the end of the quarter; not mandatory but greatly encouraged;
o   Personal Health Assessment (PHA) – to get entire 2011 premium reduction – November 30th to ensure no gap.

·         Information Technology Services:
o   Jeff Crabtree: Two analysts moving on to new positions; let IT helpdesk know of PC-related issues during the break;
o   Corri Edwards – Skype workshop still has openings; workshop about giving presentations; just got in iPads, Kindles, and Nooks – available to be checked out (up to 2 weeks).
o   Howard Imhof: Kudos to Jonathan for his promotion; sad about Brittany moving along; will be short-handed for a bit but has a transition plan in place; another position being posted – application support specialist; in the next few weeks will roll out new remote desktop capability – can log in from home and user experience will be the same as if you were sitting at your work station on campus. Emergency broadcast system – coming soon; about 2 weeks out; will have to opt-in to system – can choose to get text messages, phone calls, etc – users can determine after logging in. BY END OF NOVEMBER. Only used for emergencies. Will have voicemail broadcast capability to all phones attached to campus system – email to work account plus work phone automatically set up. FACULTY, STAFF, STUDENTS, all extended campuses.
o   OSU only people – email addresses need t move off central system into new environment;

o   Received new copiers, including a color copier. They’re very excited about that. Putting together a workshop about copyrights – sometime in winter;
o   As of winter quarter, COTC students’ social security numbers will be out of the library system – will go to student number. Not sure how to get the word out to the students.

·         Marketing & PR: Suzanne Bressoud
o   Francesca – Holiday celebration on Friday Dec. 3.
·         OSU Admissions & Advising: no updates

·         Purchasing: Maggie – introduced Lindsay Erisey, new bookstore manager; new RICOH’s still coming – they replacing printers, copiers, fax machines, etc.; going to new supply program with Office Max, Jan/Feb – leaving Staples supply program;

·         Safety & Security: Norm  - no updates

·         Services Center: Sue Bidwell - Still place to get toner; if you need toner, they need to know specifically what color; they need inner-campus envelopes – please take to the services center; during the break, there will be some work being done to the office. COTC Fact sheets – will have more at end of month / first of December.
·         Staff Development: Tauni Graham: Door decorating dec 6-10; judging last 3 days – same retirees as last year; potluck on Dec. 16 in Reese center ballroom; staff development workshop (per Sherri, see above for details); book club in the spring; Nov. 29 = deadline for employee of quarter.

·         Student Life: Elaine – activities next week for beat Michigan week – keep your eyes open for details; Brandi Morehouse halftime tutoring center and something else (dave Williams)

·         TERRI JACKSON – having battery pickup Monday December 6; on-campus batteries (flashlights, etc) call her at extension 69-323 to set up drop-off time. Include list of batteries (number and type) with your drop-off

o Enrollment: not officially announced from Columbus – we will have record-breaking enrollment (was 2515 last year) between that and 2600 this year; (subsequently has been released as 2562).
o Already recruiting for the class of 2011.
o Dr. MacDonald has charged a retention committee. They are planning a retention retreat for Friday, December 10. If you wish to attend, contact Dr. Sanders, who is the chair of the committee.

o     Next week is a big week for the Table of Contents & catering - all student employees are coming back, so please be patient with students at lunch next week – they’ll be in training;
o     New this fall: coffee card program – punch card, 10th cup is free;
o     Coffee cart – Hopewell and Founders Hall, not sure what it will have besides coffee (pastries, etc.); at least ½ hour each weekday morning; cash only;
o     Catering: brand new catering menu, will be up on OSU & COTC websites with form to fill online; week after next 7 a.m. -6 p.m., Mon-Fri will be hours (Cyber Café= 7am – 2pm) ; salads will be available until 6 pm;
o     Got a toaster oven from Quizno's – we’ll now have toasted subs for lunch; new menu board will be up next week (passed around handout);
o     Trying to offer more economical options; breakfast changes – new things will be offered.

·         Facilities: Jim Woolard – single stream recycling; dozen recycling stations around campus; pickup once a week (Thursday) – will add days if necessary; cardboard is still its own item – we bale it; will increase recyclables, which decreases trash pickup
o      Repaving University Drive behind Adena – Country Club: week of October 18 – 27; will be closed on and off – expect informative signage;
o      City is changing Country Club drive to three lanes, a 10-month project.

For questions, contact Bret who is their advisor.

o   Copiers: all are on a maintenance and supply contract – contact services center for toner, paper, and all other copier –related supplies;
o   Using alternate toner could harm copier, which could cancel contract

o   Introduced DeeDee Fetters, new mental health counselor – she was working @ time of Staff Forum but will be at fall luncheon
o   Gearing up for new quarter – lots of new activities, convocation, resident life, training new RA’s, etc.
o   New faculty & staff diversity program – different from what we’ve done in the past. Info forthcoming
o   Disability services – very busy, lots of students, keep referrals coming
o   Still working on new policies and procedures (re: referrals)
o   Convocation speaker will be Chief Glenna Wallace (details will be available on the OSU web page soon)
o   Italy trip people will present at the September COTC board meeting; will do another public presentation.
