1. Notes about next month’s meeting, the 5th annual Town Hall Meeting, with Drs. Coe & MacDonald. Please submit questions by March 1st, to Sue Bidwell, Suzanne Bressoud, or Francesca Amigo by email or hard copy in mailbox.

2. Hit the Road with the Buckeyes- Newark team Happy Feet were winners; 5099.4 miles in a quarter.

3. April meeting is April 21 – University Staff Advisory Committee (USAC) will attend the meeting – visiting all OSU campuses; they will ask us questions about cost-shared campus.

Academic Labs: Terri Jackson: No update.

Business & Accounting: Nobody present

Career Services: Derek Thatcher: Upcoming events: Relevancy Check Professional Devt. Workshop; participants can network with professionals, have resume critiqued, mock-interviews; on March 2, 5:30 – 7:30 in Reese F&G. Other workshops for students: how to network. Newark campus will serve as a free tax preparation location – has walk-in hours; please get the word out to students; see handbills for details; Warner Center room 175; February 26 at COTC’s Pataskala campus.

Child Development: Jackie Stewart had a comment – wanted to publicly commend the CDC on their Thanksgiving

Community Access: Katie Rappaport – thanks for your participation in BB/BS; we had 18 volunteers from our campus; Katie & Jen are located in Warner Center 205 (student wing); rolling out new website; “Explore College” (was “Blueprint College”) – currently recruiting 4th and 5th grade students for college planning workshops, primarily low-income, first gen college students, in April & May.

COTC Gateway: Jackie Stewart: Recruitment event in Reese F&G, open to COTC community, everyone – one-stop opportunity for prospective students who haven’t applied to apply; call Gateway for details.

Development Office: Nobody present.

Dining Services: Nobody present

Facilities/Safety & Security: Norm Holmes: Fire the other night – lots of cooperation from local agencies plus OSU, which included help relocating students.

Financial Aid: Lisa Smith: National student employment recognition week april 11-15; on the 13th there will be a luncheon from 11 am-1 pm; on the 14th there will be ice cream; look for details; Sheena Barber (DMD student) has volunteered to do slide show for luncheon – will send email so that staff can have photos taken of their student workers.

Human Resources: Sherry Abbott: Health screenings on April 28, Hopewell 64; reminder about human trafficking workshop on March 2. Personnel updates – see web for list.

ITS: Howard Imhof: In next one to two weeks, will roll out campus emergency broadcast system; can opt-in, similar to OSU’s Buckeye Alert – different options for method of contact; OSU is going to centralized email system – about 75 people in Newark need to move over to the Newark system temporarily – central email system taking place in 2013;
Julie: Reminder- There are professional development workshops in TelCenter.

Library: No updates.

Marketing & Public Relations: Suzanne Bressoud – July 3 concert and fireworks is being planned; NGSO and Stick and Stones; if you have questions about beign a vendor, contact Suzanne directly.

OSU Admissions & Advising: Gayle Gambs: Winter headcount = 2545 (projection was 2432), was 2355 last year; usual recruitment events are taking place.
Kyle Morgan, advising: in the midst of spring advising; Connections fair (students transitioning to Columbus) – May 4th; First Year Experience is upcoming; abut 500 students changing to Columbus in the fall.

Purchasing: Nobody present.

Services Center: Sue Bidwell: Things are status quo in the Services Center; if you have large volumes to be copied, please get them in; Marie is doing well and is here until 7 pm except on Fridays.

Staff Development: Marilyn Lees: Last month’s scavenger hunt was lots of fun; winning team was OSU admissions and advising; today is Soup & Chili Cook-off, with 9 entries; new category is People’s Choice; 11:30 – 1, please come whether or not you bring food, can pitch in; book discussion this year “Always Running: La Vida Loca,” Luis Rodriguez, sessions in April; be on the lookout for more information and book reservation.

Student Life: Derek Thatcher: Last night, displaced students were in “Student Life annex” in Holiday Inn lobby – appreciate everyone’s help and support with the 44 students; if you want to help, await word from Student Life.

MISCELLANEOUS: Will send the Town Hall Meeting info sheet via email and will also be available online.
Jeseca McDonald – college goal Sunday – on Sunday at 2 pm in the Reese Center; students can get help with FAFSA; the only one in Licking County.

COTC’s 40th celebration event, Saturday January 29; PLEASE RSVP to Laura Walsh; first hour=reception; second hour=formal program; Friday January 28 = 70s dress-up day; also series of community service projects – will let campus know details of the monthly events; Next Generation Challenge: more public in January; kudos to Travis Patrick & Leslie McLaughlin who created print and video material. Bill McConnell (chair of NCDF) will chair the campaign; lapel pins are available – if anyone wants more, ask for them.

COTC Gateway: Diana Palmer: Gateway is moved into new digs, please stop by; will have two new positions; New people: Jennifer Abraham, new to front desk in advising; Pam Allen, dual enrollment; Christine Weaver, student specialist; Bryanna Stigger, student services specialist.
Dual enrollment: COTC course being taught at a high school; high school teacher is approved to teach a COTC course, so is an adjunct professor. Gets students to think beyond high school to consider possibilities – 2 year and/or 4 year program.

Development Office: Laura Walsh: will have table set up for alumni at COTC commencement.

Dining Services: Nobody present

Facilities/Safety & Security: Dan Longstreth, facilities: Please use caution in parking lots, wear your boots. Salt doesn’t work in this weather, so they don’t put it down.
Jim Woolard: TP will now come in recyclable boxes rather than plastic bags.

Human Resources: Sherry Abbott: Personnel updates – see web for list. Reminder to complete personal health assessment (PHA) for the year- get it out of the way; incentive points from 2010 will be paid out the end of this month or end of February – comes in paycheck;

ITS: Jeff Crabtree: New helpdesk analyst positions taken; emergency broadcast function will be fully functional in 3 weeks.

Library: Tauni Graham: urges people to attend the copyright workshop – if you use a copy machine, consider coming to the workshop.

Marketing & Public Relations: Alice Hutzel-Bateson: Suzanne Clark, new marketing assistant;

OSU Admissions & Advising: Mark Fegley – Notes from Ann – up slightly in apps for winter quarter projections; Blueprint College may have a name change – “Destination College;” Licking Valley HS teacher service day upcoming.

Purchasing: Nobody present.

Services Center: Sue Bidwell: Remodeling has been done; mailboxes have been adjusted; reminder that services center can do high volume copy jobs; still supplies paper and toner for campus copiers (the Ricoh copiers).

Staff Development: Marilyn Lees: February 10 = annual soup and chili cook-off, be sure to enter.
Tauni Graham: Handed out scavenger Hunt list; work in groups to collect items; check in is January 20 in Hopewell 64; pizza will be served. (See handouts)

Student Life: Connie Zang: No update.

MISCELLANEOUS: Jennifer Roberts- Dress for COTC event – Dressier than business casual – “elegant.”
